Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride

Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride is a second-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and transcription. It is highly active against aerobic gram-negative bacilli.

Dosage by Body Weight

The usual adult oral dosage is 250 mg to 750 mg every 12 hours, depending on the severity and nature of the infection. It should be taken with a full glass of water, and the patient should remain well-hydrated. Avoid administering with dairy products, antacids, or iron supplements as they impair absorption.
